UK distribution - East Anglia, Midlands, North, South East, South West

This is similar to red clover but the flowers are a deeper purple-red and it has zigzagging stems and narrower, deep green leaflets.

Zigzag clover is an excellent plant for a wildflower meadow. Water voles may store clover leaves as emergency food supplies.
