Grown largely for its evergreen leathery, lance shaped, dark green leaves, spurge laurel is an upright bushy plant with small, yellowish-green, slightly fragrant, flowers hanging in small clusters. These are pollinated by bumble bees. The flowers are followed by small black berries containing the seeds, which are poisonous to humans.

This is a plant for dry woodland conditions and a good alternative to Euphorbia in these conditions.
