This is an attractive, fast- growing annual, worth planting for its feathery foliage as well as being a useful addition to the herb garden. Plate-like clusters of bright yellow flowers emerge on the tops of long, straight stems on this strongly aromatic plant.

Young dill leaves are used for flavouring soups and sauces etc. Like most other members of the carrot family, it is attractive to some species of fly and small bees.
