Globeflower - Trollius europaeus Globeflower - Trollius europaeus© Dr Chris Gibson/English Nature ![]() Globeflower is a member of the buttercup family with distinctive bright yellow, tightly bunched, globe-like flowers. It has deeply-toothed, green leaves. Globeflower is a characteristic member of the northern hay meadow flora, and also occurs on riverbanks, open woodland and damp rock ledges. This can be a really showy and unusual plant for a bog garden, pond edge or naturalised in a wet meadow. In its wild state, this species is linked to a particular species of fly, to which the plant gives up some of its developing seeds in return for being pollinated. It may attract bees but can otherwise be grown simply for its very attractive and unusual flowers.
