Cat's-ear - Hypochaeris radicata Cat's-ear - Hypochaeris radicata© Dr Chris Gibson/English Nature ![]() This plant looks superficially looks like a small dandelion. Cat's ear has tall upright flower stems with bright yellow florets which are greyish underneath. Closer inspection shows that unlike the dandelion, the stems are wiry, and the basal rosette is of narrow, bristly leaves. It makes a bright splash of colour in dry grassy places in late summer and may attract hoverflies to a garden. Animals
